Join us June 23 for a live Q & A with Derek Downey, owner of Whole System Designs in Davis, CA, and the designer of the newly established demonstration food forest garden, Pollinators Paradise in Dixon.

Derek will talk about Pollinators Paradise and host a discussion with Sustainable Solano’s Food Forest Keepers from throughout Solano County, giving them an opportunity to ask questions related to their own demonstration food forest gardens. Together we will explore solutions on how to support these gardens to thrive and be resilient! The public is invited to join to learn more about food forest gardens.

Those who register will also receive links to several informative videos from Sustainable Solano about the basics of creating your own food forest garden! Sustainable Solano’s garden installations are usually in-person, hands-on educational events, where the community comes together to learn about permaculture, install a garden and share a meal. Due to restrictions from COVID-19, we were unable to install Pollinators Paradise as a community. Instead, Derek walks you through the process in a series of videos designed to teach about the basic elements of a food forest garden: Design, Swale & Berm, Healthy Soil, Tree Planting, Understory/Guild Plants, and Drip Irrigation.

Watch the videos and then join us for this insightful discussion with Derek Downey and the Food Forest Keepers!
