Join Shalom, the newly established demonstration food forest with a laundry-to-landscape greywater system in Vacaville, for a workshop installing rain barrels.
Rain barrels collect and store water runoff during storms. The collected water can then be used to water veggies and flowers, wash your dog, emergency water storage and more!
Rain barrels help:
- conserve water
- reduce flooding
- reduce water pollution
- save money!
The workshop will cover different types of rain collection, catchment system anatomy and design, sealing and ventilation, drainage, size calculations and more. There will be a hands-on component where participants will work together to build a multi-barrel rainwater catchment system, using recycled food-grade barrels. All experience levels welcome!
