Backyard chickens are easier than ever! You can enjoy fresh eggs and the many benefits for your garden of these peaceful and low-maintenance animals. The class will cover starting chicks, coop designs, food, bedding, health, egg birds vs. eggs and meat, and time for questions! Coop designs and resource list will be provided.

Instructor Tyler Snortum-Phelps works with Sustainable Contra Costa, and has been keeping chickens for 20 years. He is also a certified Master Composter and has taught home composting workshops for many years. He lives in Walnut Creek on a 1-acre property with his family, dog and chickens.
