Join Sustainable Solano for the installation of Solano County’s Urban Forest!
We are currently working on converting 3.5 acres of Shelter Solano grounds into a resilient, mixed-canopy urban forest. The project aims to serve as a living lab for Solano County residents to learn about sustainable landscaping, secondary water use and the environmental and community benefits of an urban forest.
Learn the benefits of urban tree planting and join us in reducing greenhouse gases through this hands-on community project! We will be planting Carbon Sequestering Trees, small plants and seeds and building healthy soil through adding organic matter, reducing water evaporation and creating conditions for thriving trees.
Cork Oak, Italian Stone Pine, Coastal Live Oak and Camphor are just a few of the shading-providing trees that help mitigate climate change.
We hope you will join us!
