DESCRIPTION:Join us Feb. 17 to learn about sustainable landscape design and help install a demonstration food forest garden based on permaculture principles in Vacaville! \nRegister here! \nThis public\, hands-on installation workshop series will create a demonstration food forest garden in Vacaville providing an opportunity to learn about rainwater capture\, water efficient drip irrigation and how to plant and mulch for a water wise\, resilient garden that builds healthy soil and yields food. \nDay 1: Saturday\, Feb. 17-Earthworks \n\nLearn how to create swales\, which are trenches that capture rainwater in the ground\, divert roofwater to swales\, sheet mulch to protect and build healthy soil and plant trees\nLearn small scale strategies to grow plants during drought\, floods and fire\nVolunteer tasks: digging a swale\, moving and spreading wood chips.\n\nDay 2: Saturday\, March 2-Planting & Drip Irrigation \n\nLearn what plants help your garden thrive by working together as an ecosystem and convert a sprinkler system to drip irrigation\nVolunteer tasks: planting\, installing drip irrigation and moving wood chips\n\n* wear closed-toe shoes\, sun protection\, bring gloves and refillable water bottle \n* Lunch will be provided. \n*Bring your own lunch if you have special dietary needs \n*This event is designed for ages 12 and up
