DESCRIPTION:Teri Brown\, a food forest keeper in Dixon\, is opening her front-yard garden from 10 am-12 pm Saturday\, April 18. \nVisit the garden to learn how it was transformed through a series of Sustainable Solano workshops in October 2023 from a patch of weeds and dead trees into a vibrant garden with seven fruit trees and various plants that attract pollinators. Come see how the garden has flourished under Teri’s loving care! \nTeri is in the process of preparing various plant starts to give to those that attend the event. Sustainable Solano’s Dixon Youth Air Protectors\, high school interns engaging the community around ways to improve local air quality\, will be at the event to share seeds and air quality surveys. \nContact Teri by texting her at (916) 601-3371 for directions. \nThis event is being graciously organized and hosted by Teri Brown for members of the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club and members of the public.

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever seen a food forest? Are you interested in growing your own food or want to replace your lawn with a more sustainable landscape? Join our annual Food Forest Tour! Do not miss out on the chance to tour local community gardens and our demonstration edible gardens fed by secondary water (roofwater and/or laundry-to-landscape greywater system) in Benicia and Vallejo! \nLearn simple techniques that you can apply to your own yard to create a vibrant\, food-producing ecosystem using water wisely. \nAsk our food forest keepers questions\, enjoy the gardens\, be inspired and get ideas on how you can work these design principles into your own yard! \nRegister here \nHow it will work:\nYou can choose to tour for the whole day or for half a day on Saturday\, April 25 \nBenicia Demonstration Food Forest Gardens will be open 10-1 pm \nVallejo Demonstration Food Forest Gardens will be open 1-4 pm \nItinerary pickup and special events\n\n9-11 am: A detailed itinerary with garden locations will be distributed at Avant Garden in Benicia (400 First St.) This itinerary will include all of the demonstration food forest gardens in Benicia (open in the morning) and Vallejo (open in the afternoon).\n12-1 pm: Itineraries for the Vallejo garden sites (open in the afternoon) will be available in the front of the Global Center for Success building:1055 Azuar Dr(BLDG 733) at Pollinator Pathway\n\nmore tour details TBA \n$15 suggested donation at check-in
