This installation will be in partnership with the Vallejo People’s Garden and Global Center for Success. \nRegister here \nThis public\, hands-on installation workshop series will create an environmentally resilient garden in Vallejo providing an opportunity to learn about rainwater capture\, and how to plant and mulch for a water-wise\, sustainable garden that builds healthy soil and provides habitat for native pollinators. \nThis garden will be an example of an alternative to lawn that is beautiful\, requires less water and creates a habitat for monarchs & other pollinators. DESCRIPTION:Visit demonstration food forest gardens in Fairfield and Vacaville from 9 am-1 pm Saturday\, June 4. This is a great opportunity to see what types of plants thrive in the climate of Central Solano and learn ways to capture rainwater and install simple greywater systems to counterbalance our increasingly dry weather. \nTour our demonstration edible gardens fed by secondary water (roofwater and/or laundry-to-landscape greywater system) in Fairfield and Vacaville! Learn simple techniques that you can apply to your own yard to create a vibrant\, food-producing ecosystem using water wisely. Ask our food forest keepers questions\, enjoy the gardens\, be inspired and get ideas on how you can work these design principles into your own yard! \nLearn more and register here! \nHow it will work: \nFairfield and Vacaville Demonstration Food Forest Gardens will be open 9 am-1 pm on Saturday\, June 4 \nItinerary pickup and special events:  \n\n9-11 am: A detailed itinerary with garden locations will be distributed at the demonstration farm site in Vacaville. The address of the site is 3942 Foothill Drive\, Vacaville. There are two entrances associated with that address. Please use the entrance with a Sustainable Solano sign by the white fence leading to the parking lot.\n9 am-1 pm: Self-guided tour of gardens\n11 am: Laundry-to-Landscape greywater talk and tour at Healthy Futures\n10 am-12 pm: Chicken keeping and Food Forest plant education at Mangia(Lets Eat)\, repurposed items used in landscape\, chickens\, native sedge field\, fruit trees and more!
