DESCRIPTION:Join us November 12 to learn about sustainable landscape design and help install a demonstration food forest garden based on permaculture principles in Vallejo! \nRegister here! \nThis public\, hands-on installation workshop series will create a demonstration food forest garden in Vallejo providing an opportunity to learn about rainwater capture\, water efficient drip irrigation and how to plant and mulch for a water wise\, resilient garden that builds healthy soil and yields food. \nDay 1: Saturday\, Nov 12-Earthworks \n\nLearn how to create swales\, which are trenches that capture rainwater in the ground\, divert roofwater swales\, sheet mulch to protect and build healthy soil\nLearn small scale strategies to grow plants during drought conditions\nLearn organic approaches on how to deal with crab grass\, we will be implementing strategies to stay on top of this hardy plant\nVolunteer tasks: digging a swale\, moving and spreading wood chips.\n\nDay 2: Saturday\, Nov. 19-Planting & Drip Irrigation \n\nLearn what plants help your garden thrive by working together as an ecosystem and how to install drip irrigation\nVolunteer tasks: planting the understory\, installing drip irrigation and moving wood chips\n\n* wear closed-toe shoes\, sun protection\, bring gloves and refillable water bottle \n* Lunch will be provided. \n*Bring your own lunch if you have special dietary needs
