During this hands-on installation workshop series\, we will replace a thirsty lawn with shade trees and resilient plants\, and discuss how they help to improve air quality. \nThis is a great opportunity to learn about rainwater capture\, water efficient drip irrigation and how to plant and mulch to create a waterwise\, resilient garden that builds healthy soil and provides habitat for pollinators and shade for the community! \n*For homeowner privacy\, address will be included on ticket* \nDay 1: Saturday\, Feb. 8-Earthworks \n\nLearn how to create swales\, which are trenches that capture rainwater in the ground\, divert roof water swales\, and sheet mulch to protect and build healthy soil\nVolunteer tasks: digging a swale\, moving and spreading wood chips.\n\n*Wear closed-toe shoes\, sun protection\, bring gloves and a refillable water bottle \n* Lunch will be provided \n*Bring your own lunch if you have specific dietary needs \nDay 2: Feb. 15-Planting & Irrigation \n\nLearn about the plants selected and their functions in the garden and how to install waterwise drip irrigation\nVolunteer tasks: planting the garden\, moving woodchips and installing irrigation\n\nIf you have any questions please contact nicole@sustainablesolano.org
