SUMMARY:Emmanuel Temple Community Workday
DESCRIPTION:Join us Saturday\, April 6 for a day of maintenance at the Emmanuel Temple garden. We will be weeding\, spreading a small amount of wood chips\, and planting Spring vegetables. \nThis project is in partnership with Emmanuel Apostolic Church and Emmanuel Arms Inc. This church has served the community with weekly outreach and supply distributions for over 10 years. All of the food grown in this garden goes back to the community in hot meals or as fresh produce. \nThis maintenance day will consist of: \n\nWeeding\, raking wood chips\, spreading soil into beds\, and planting\n\n\nPlease wear closed toe shoes and sun protection! (i.e. hat and sunscreen)\nBring working gloves\, a water bottle\, and a lunch.\nYou will NOT need a copy of your ticket.\nIf you are under 18: your legal guardian must sign a release of liability when you check-in.\nVolunteers should not attend the event if they feel unwell.

DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 19 to learn the basics of waterwise drip irrigation in Benicia! Bring a cup of coffee or tea and a snack to share. During this event we will be installing a water-efficient dripline irrigation system in the Swenson community orchard and having a community garden work day. Heath Griffith from Grow with the Flow will teach an introduction to this sustainable irritation method\, and then lead a hands-on installation. You can expect to learn the differences between dripline and other irrigation methods\, the advantages of drip irrigation\, and how to assemble the components on a landscape. Whether you’ve been wanting to dip your toes into this subject\, or brush up on existing knowledge\, you are welcome!

Do not miss out on the chance to tour local community gardens and our demonstration edible gardens fed by secondary water (roofwater and/or laundry-to-landscape greywater system) in Benicia and Vallejo! \nLearn simple techniques that you can apply to your own yard to create a vibrant\, food-producing ecosystem using water wisely. \nAsk our food forest keepers questions\, enjoy the gardens\, be inspired and get ideas on how you can work these design principles into your own yard! \nHow it will work:\nYou can choose to tour for the whole day or for half a day on Saturday\, April 26 \nBenicia Demonstration Food Forest Gardens will be open 10-1 pm \nVallejo Demonstration Food Forest Gardens will be open 1-4 pm \nItinerary pickup and special events\n\n9-11 am: A detailed itinerary with garden locations will be distributed at Avant Garden in Benicia (400 First St.) This itinerary will include all of the demonstration food forest gardens in Benicia (open in the morning) and Vallejo (open in the afternoon).\n12-1 pm: Itineraries for the Vallejo garden sites (open in the afternoon) will be available in the front of the Global Center for Success building:1055 Azuar Dr(BLDG 733) at Pollinator Pathway\n\nmore tour details TBA
