DESCRIPTION:Wildflower Seed Ball Workshop\nJan. 17\, 11am-1:30 pm & 12:30-3 pm\, Western Railway Museum\, Suisun City\nJoin this hands-on Wildflower Seed Ball Workshop at the Western Railway Museum to sow seeds that will flourish this spring! Participants will learn about native wildflowers\, pollinators\, and land restoration\, make their own seed balls\, and enjoy a scenic train ride to help release seed balls along the route. SuSol is participating in this event as a partner\, and the day also features local artists from the Fairfield-Suisun City Visual Arts Association and a new museum exhibit curated by archivist John Treiber. DESCRIPTION:Teri Brown\, a food forest keeper in Dixon\, is opening her front-yard garden from 10 am-12 pm Saturday\, April 18. \nVisit the garden to learn how it was transformed through a series of Sustainable Solano workshops in October 2023 from a patch of weeds and dead trees into a vibrant garden with seven fruit trees and various plants that attract pollinators. Come see how the garden has flourished under Teri’s loving care! \nTeri is in the process of preparing various plant starts to give to those that attend the event. Sustainable Solano’s Dixon Youth Air Protectors\, high school interns engaging the community around ways to improve local air quality\, will be at the event to share seeds and air quality surveys. \nContact Teri by texting her at (916) 601-3371 for directions. \nThis event is being graciously organized and hosted by Teri Brown for members of the Dixon Women’s Improvement Club and members of the public.

SUMMARY:(Fairfield & Online) Solano Strategic Initiative for Agriculture Public Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Farmers\, ranchers\, local food system advocates and others interested in Solano agriculture are invited to a workshop to learn about Solano County’s Strategic Initiative for Agriculture. The Strategic Initiative is a countywide effort led by the Board of Supervisors and Agriculture Department along with the agricultural community to protect the county’s working agricultural lands by enhancing the long-term economic viability of local food and agricultural systems. The project will culminate in agricultural development\, infrastructure and land use plans intended to support the Board of Supervisors’ agricultural preservation and economic development priorities. \nRegister here to attend in-person or on Zoom! \nDate: Thursday\, May 7\, 2026\nTime: 4-6 pm\n Location: Zoom and in-person at the County Event Center\, 601 Texas Street\, Fairfield \nCommittees and stakeholder groups\, including members of the Solano Local Food System Alliance\, have worked on these areas for about a year\, and this is the opportunity to hear updates on the process and preliminary findings and offer questions or feedback.
