It would also hold the county’s climate action plan. \nBut how would that happen? And how can the public participate in this process? Get answers to these questions and more at this public educational forum with local experts in planning\, zoning\, food systems and food access\, and share your priorities for emphasizing local food. DESCRIPTION:Join us on Feb. 8 & Feb. 15 to learn about sustainable landscape design and help install a water efficient garden based on permaculture principles in Fairfield! During this hands-on installation workshop series\, we will replace a thirsty lawn with shade trees and resilient plants\, and discuss how they help to improve air quality. \nThis is a great opportunity to learn about rainwater capture\, water efficient drip irrigation and how to plant and mulch to create a waterwise\, resilient garden that builds healthy soil and provides habitat for pollinators and shade for the community! \n*For homeowner privacy\, address will be included on ticket* \nDay 1: Saturday\, Feb. 8-Earthworks \n\nLearn how to create swales\, which are trenches that capture rainwater in the ground\, divert roof water swales\, and sheet mulch to protect and build healthy soil\nVolunteer tasks: digging a swale\, moving and spreading wood chips.\n\n*Wear closed-toe shoes\, sun protection\, bring gloves and a refillable water bottle \n* Lunch will be provided \n*Bring your own lunch if you have specific dietary needs \nDay 2: Feb. 15-Planting & Irrigation \n\nLearn about the plants selected and their functions in the garden and how to install waterwise drip irrigation\nVolunteer tasks: planting the garden\, moving woodchips and installing irrigation\n\nIf you have any questions please contact nicole@sustainablesolano.org

Dr. Nick Spada will be joining us to answer all these questions and demonstrate how to build a cost-effective home air purifier. \nRegister Here \nDr. Spada is a scientist at the Air Quality Research Center of the University of California\, Davis. His research focuses on the prevalence of metals in air pollution\, which he uses to support large-scale national monitoring as well as targeted studies in front-line communities.
