SUMMARY:(Rio Vista) Community Garden Formation Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Sustainable Solano is working to establish a community garden in downtown Rio Vista! The aim is to create a beautiful\, thriving green space that will not only enhance our community but also promote permaculture practices and foster a sense of community. \nMeeting will be \n\n6-7:30 pm Thursday\, Aug. 17\n\nThis garden will provide an opportunity for local residents who lack their own space to cultivate fresh produce locally. This community garden will also serve as an educational platform\, providing a space for residents to learn about urban farming practices and reconnecting with our local agricultural roots. \nThe garden will be a vibrant communal space\, encouraging social interaction\, and strengthening bonds among neighbors. It will become a hub for exchanging ideas\, knowledge\, and experiences\, fostering a sense of belonging and pride in our shared environment. \nJoin us as we create the steering committee for this garden project\, and determine the immediate goals and structure of the organization.

SUMMARY:(Fairfield) Air Quality DIY Home Air Filter Workshop
DESCRIPTION:What is in the air we breathe? Where does air pollution come from? How does air pollution impact your children\, neighbors\, and community? What can we do to reduce our air pollution and protect our homes? \nDr. Nick Spada will be joining us to answer all these questions and lead a workshop on how to build a cost-effective home air filter. \nDr. Spada is a scientist at the Air Quality Research Center of the University of California\, Davis. His research focuses on the prevalence of metals in air pollution\, which he uses to support large-scale national monitoring as well as targeted studies in front-line communities. \nWe will be giving away the materials to build your own air filter to the first 10 participants who register to receive the supplies (located as a free “add-on” to the ticket). You must live in Fairfield to qualify. Only one per household. Materials will be provided at the workshop. \nRegister here!
