Are you interested in growing your own food or want to replace your lawn with a more sustainable landscape? Join our annual demo Food Forest Tour! Do not miss out on the chance to tour our demonstration edible gardens fed by secondary water (roofwater and/or laundry-to-landscape greywater system) in Fairfield & Suisun City! \nLearn simple techniques that you can apply to your own yard to create a vibrant\, food-producing ecosystem using water wisely. \nEach food forest is a unique expression of the land and caretaker. Ask our food forest keepers questions\, enjoy the gardens\, be inspired and get ideas on how you can work these design principles into your own yard! \nHow it will work:\nFairfield and Suisun City Demonstration Food Forest Gardens will be open 9 am-1 pm on Saturday\, May 6 \nItinerary pickup and special events:\n9-11 am: A detailed itinerary with garden locations will be distributed at Armijo High School: 824 Washington Street\, Fairfield\n9-11 am: Celebrating Healthy Local Food: A Culinary and Garden Showcase. Armijo students who participated in the Healthy Local Food program at the school will share multimedia projects that highlight the importance of healthy\, local food at the Armijo High library near the garden. After picking up your itinerary for the garden tour\, be sure to stop into the library to see the projects and hear from these students about growing\, cooking and eating healthy food and the importance of local food.\n10 am-1 pm: Self-guided tour

DESCRIPTION:Fairfield Sustainability Walking Tour\n10 am\, Downtown Fairfield \nThis informational walk will lead participants through the city’s downtown and explore the ways in which Fairfield’s infrastructure influences daily decisions that contribute to poor air quality. Starting and ending in the parking lot in front of Dave’s Giant Hamburgers\, the walk is about 3 miles and will last about 2 hours. Participants will learn about Fairfield’s air quality and how it impacts our personal and communal health\, examples of people-oriented vs car-oriented city design\, and how we can work together to make Fairfield healthier\, greener\, and more beautiful.
