(Dixon) Market Garden and Food Forest Installation: Day 1 of 2

Learn to transform a lawn into a productive market garden and food forest.
Join us September 17 and 24 to learn about sustainable food production and help install a market garden and demonstration food forest garden to provide food to underserved communities in Dixon!
This public, hands-on installation workshop series will create a demonstration food forest garden at the Dixon Community Church providing an opportunity to learn about permanent beds, hedgerows, and permaculture.
This project is in partnership with Dixon Community Church.
Day 1: Saturday, September 17-Building Raised Beds, Dig Swales, and Lay Irrigation
- Learn about raised bed gardening, permaculture guilds, and rainwater catchment
- Volunteer tasks: Assemble raised beds, dig swales, and assist in laying irrigation
- Closed-toe shoes, sun protection, bring gloves and water
- Lunch will be provided (Bring your own lunch if you have special dietary needs)

Day 2: Saturday, September 24-Filling Raised Beds, Planting Plants, and Lay Irrigation
- Learn about raised bed gardening, permaculture guilds, and rainwater catchment
- Volunteer tasks: Fill raised beds with soil, plant plants, and assist in laying irrigation
- Closed toe shoes, sun protection, bring gloves and water
- Lunch will be provided (Bring your own lunch if you have special dietary needs)
