About the City Church Garden

Solano Gardens provided plant starts, soil, and two new compost bins built from recycled material. This garden also received a stipend for the garden champion’s work. Two public community workdays were hosted here along with an “Introduction to Composting” class.

Until recently, City Church ran a housing program that allowed folks looking for help with their substance abuse disorder to stay on their property. City Church cooked 3 meals daily, plus provided snacks and other basic needs (showers, beds, etc.). Food grown in this space went into the meal program and back to the City Church community, which includes a number members who did not live on the property but received meals daily.
