(Fairfield) Volunteer: Garden Workday

March 8 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Fridays, March 8 & 15: Removing crabgrass; planting microclover and spring annuals at Armijo High School Garden (824 Washington Street, Fairfield). Click here to register for day one and day two.

Join us on March 8 from 3:30pm-5:30pm to support the Armijo garden in getting rid of crab grass, planting microclover, and planting Spring/Summer annuals! This is a great opportunity to learn about permaculture friendly ways to deal with crabgrass, and to hear about the wonderful cover crop that is microclover.

This public, hands-on installation workshop will be held to clean up the gardens main annual-growing area and plant the next round of annual plants. Join us the next Friday, March 15, at the same time to support with planting new trees and new guilds. Sign up for that workday here.

This project is in partnership with Armijo High School and the Armijo Jardin de la Esperanza.

Safety recommendations:

  • Staff and volunteers should wear a face covering/mask that covers nose and mouth.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to wear close toed shoes, sunscreen, hats, and bring water to hydrate during the event.
  • If you have gardening gloves please wear those, and note we will have extras to share.
