About the Fairfield Christian Reformed Church Garden

The FCRC garden was created after the garden champion, Ruth Navarrete, attended our Faith Feasibility Roundtable in 2024. Through that discussion, we were able to develop a food forest space that will feed the local community and act as a place for folks to gather and learn.

The food forest has a number of fruit trees, perennial berries and veggies, as well as a number of herbs and pollinator plants placed around the space. The food forest is located on a hillside, and we were able to add a number of water catchment systems to divert water into swales to help the trees reach their full potential.

Plants and trees include Fig tree, Pomegranate tree, Persimmon tree, Peach tree, Lemon tree, Orange tree, Yarrow, Comfrey, Asparagus crowns, Artichoke, Strawberry, Thornless Raspberry, Wormwood, Hyssop, Penstemon, Nepeta, Seaside daisy, and Microclover in/around each mound.

After two rainy installation days, we were finally able to get nearly every plant we wanted in the ground. We’d like to express our thanks to the folks at FCRC for their hospitality and warmth.
