Healing Harvest

About the Healing Harvest Food Forest

The “Healing Harvest” food forest at Touro University was created as a joint project between Sustainable Solano and Touro University. The food forest will act as a therapeutic space for students and staff. This space will simultaneously produce fresh food for students and staff, with excess going to the campus’ food pantry or student-run Free Clinic.

The total garden space is nearly 3,800 square feet, located behind the University’s Administration building. This space was chosen because of its clear visibility to students moving between buildings, making it easier for students to engage with the space. The university plans to eventually add seating and tables for students, as well as an ADA-accessible pathway through the garden.

The garden is anticipated to serve about 1,000 people annually. Over the next five years, it should yield about 1,688 pounds of food, the equivalent of about 1,400 meals.
