(Benicia) Soil Biology to Grow Garden Abundance

SuSol’s Michael Wedgley will discuss how soil microbes are integral to growing the healthiest plants possible with zero pesticides or fertilizers.
Topics will include
- What is the Soil Food Web and who are all of the players in the soil (i.e. bacteria, nematodes, protozoa, fungi, etc.)
- How soil microbes do all of the gardening for us
- What is nutrient cycling (nobody ever fertilized an old growth forest)
- Biology to stop battling against disease, pests and weeds
- Not all compost is created equal — what type of compost is best for feeding the soil
- Strategies for incorporating microorganisms
There will be time for Q&A at the end.
This class is generously funded by Republic Services
