Bounty of the County

A celebration of Solano County farms, food, wine and beer

2022 Spring Bounty of the County

May 14, May 22 & June 18

The 2022 Spring Bounty of the County highlighted Solano County wineries and breweries in May and then featured a Bounty of the County event at the Solano County Fair!

Check out the videos from previous Bounty of the County celebrations below to learn more about local restaurants, farms and wineries, and support local food year-round!

Highlights

  • June 18: Bounty of the County at the Solano County Fair was an opportunity to learn about local food, watch cooking demonstrations, have fun activities for the kids and more!
    • Cultivate Community Food Co-op, Solano County’s up and coming food co-op (with their blender bicycle!)
    • Members of the Solano Local Food System Alliance, including Cultivate Community Food Co-op, the Solano Department of Agriculture, and Sustainable Solano
    • Delicious seasonal recipes demonstrated by local chefs with food from Solano farms
  • May 14: Wine and food tasting event at Mangels Vineyards in Suisun Valley
    • Winemakers from Tolenas Winery, Mangels Vineyards and Suisun Creek Winery each poured one of their varietals and gave some background on its creation. Each wine was paired with a small food tasting featuring local, seasonal produce from Suisun Valley farms, along with recipes and brief cooking demos by Sustainable Solano staff. Following the food tasting, guests had the opportunity to taste additional wines, chat further with the winemakers and sign up for wine club memberships if desired.
  • May 22:  Beer and food tasting and tour at Ruhstaller Farm in Dixon
    • Participants toured the fields, the cellar and the brewery while learning how Ruhstaller Farm transforms their own organic hops into unique, delicious craft beers. Small food tastings featured produce from neighboring family farms paired with the beers along the way, with recipes and quick cooking demos by Sustainable Solano staff. Guests had plenty of Q&A time with the brewmasters and also learned about Ruhstaller’s regenerative farming practices that bring the hops from the dirt to the deck and strive to leave the land better than they found it.
