(Online) Soil Biology to Grow Garden Abundance

In this online talk, Michael Wedgley will discuss how soil microbes are integral to growing the healthiest plants possible with zero pesticides or fertilizers.

  • What is the Soil Food Web and who are all of the players in the soil (i.e. bacteria, nematodes, protozoa, fungi, etc.)
  • How soil microbes do all of the gardening for us
  • What is nutrient cycling (nobody ever fertilized an old growth forest)
  • Biology to stop battling against disease, pests and weeds
  • Not all compost is created equal — what type of compost is best for feeding the soil
  • Strategies for incorporating microorganisms
